Passionate, fun, intense, kind, determined. All words that sum up Stephanie Bassos. While behind the camera, her compassion and confidence unite creating contemporary, yet nostalgic lifestyle imagery. Her love of photography began with a point-and-shoot camera, and an abandoned building she snuck into with a friend to photograph the remains. After that, she took one photography class in Italy in 2005, and hasn’t left home without at least one camera since. To say she obsessively shoots is an understatement. In 2013, her career expanded from part-time to full-time, and from corporate portraits, families and weddings, to editorial, commercial, and documentary work with a fresh perspective. She has a knack for seeing what others might miss, the subtle moments between moments. She finds mundane experiences entirely fascinating and is driven by the beautiful chaos of life. Stephanie’s work shows life as it truly exists.
Dividing her time between Chicago and Denver, Stephanie loves cooking a good meal for family and friends, and spending time with her two wild boys. She values all of her relationships deeply and enjoys nourishing them. When asked what she hopes for her future, she says, “To photograph things I love. To raise my children well, and to do things that make the world a better place.”
